  poems for a new tomorrow

Up

your best friend

my best friend died six year ago, but it seems like ten or more

on the eve of Father’s Day it was, and from then on he was no more

what I always took for granted was not exactly cast in stone

for when our good Lord called him, he finally left his home

where all that remained were the memories, of all I could of done

if only I could of spared the time, to let him know he was the one

our father is the one who brought us into our world, a world we have to share

so share your thoughts in real time, while he’s got time to spare

cause once he’s gone, it’s over, no more, kaput, finished

and tomorrow would be too late, for that very special wish

that could only take some seconds, out of all the things you do

to share that timely wish now, than when it’s better for only you

so let him know you love him, and if not every day

don’t miss those times when it’s needed, before he is on his way
