  poems for a new tomorrow

Up

today i went to heaven, returned via hell

Today I went to Heaven, returned via Hell

Courtesy of Thuy Son’s Marble Mountain, now there’s a story I can tell

It started at a Buddha Temple, then went on to the cave VC hospital of lore

Only to go a little further, to the cave of Heaven and what it had in store

There I came upon a shrine, and no one else was there

Even though others had entered, the surroundings were quite bare

Except for Buddha Shrine, guiding me towards the light

To where I would climb to heaven, easily without a fight

And once I finally got there, there was more than met the eye

For there I saw our world and it’s beauty from earth to sky

So awesome was the vista, so different was the place

That I just sat in awe, as I looked into God’s face

And then the time came, for my return back to our world

So I started my apprehensive decline, finally following two Vietnamese girls

And as I descended back into the cave with Buddha Shrine

I rejoiced my thanks to heaven, that my life no longer walked the line

For I not only discovered a greater awareness, of all the beauty our world holds

I also saw myself as such a small piece of our world

For our world has much to offer, and an equal amount to fear

It’s just that they exist side by side, maintaining a balance year by year

That is until this balance, gets pulled out of sync

Only to eventually recoil, sometimes only after it has reached the brink

So let us work together, and try to better understand our world

By listening more to others and especially our own soul.
