  poems for a new tomorrow

Up

the pre-nuptial

what’s mine is mine, and yours is yours

and that’s how things should be

without any added “per diem”

for whatever time you’ve spent with me

it all seems to be so simple

till others get involved

as they try to up the anti

as they quickly go for blood

yet no one ever cares

how the other half may feel

when their blood sucking attorneys

try to justify their spiel

“but who’s to care”, “never hurts to ask”

“it will be different years from now”

does that mean that we are no longer equal

and you should be treated like some Buddhist’s cow?

and what if I should die

have they not heard of a will?

or is there something I don’t know

that do not dare to spill?

so what started out with love

gets nurtured into hate

as your attorney who works for you

tries to be first out the gate

and what did he accomplish?

did he really help you so?

and when he doesn’t, it’s justified

cause “he just didn’t know”

so as we round the home stretch

will everything come to pass?

or will things just get messed up

by this pre-nuptial blood-sucking ass?
