  poems for a new tomorrow

Up

the pilot

on the other side of Orion

a long, long way from home

a once famous pilot

flies hurt and all alone

what sent him on this mission

is somewhat hard to tell

but his mission must not end too soon

or things won’t go as well

one must keep watch for those obstacles

one must keep their own control

or face the inevitable loss

the loss of your own soul

God gave us our minds to use

and our wisdom not to burn

if allowed to work, then work it can

when it gets its very own turn

the pilot has flown for ages

and has helped those along the way

but to turn his back as Armageddon nears

will be the end of the pilot’s days

the conflict seems too tough

the outcome seems so slight

but strange as it may seem

it can be won without a fight

as the pilot turns his craft around

and begins to head back home

one wonders what the future will bring

as his battle was his alone
