  poems for a new tomorrow

Up

so short, so long

written to “Anthem” from Suzanne Ciani’s album Pianissimo

when I first met you, and our hearts embraced

I knew, twas you, by just how fast it raced

but that was then, and the time is now

now were are we, what all turned this around

so short, so long

when I first met you, I knew things would last

because, there was nothing, we would ever let get, in our path

but that was then, and the time is now

now, with no more said, it’s all over somehow

so short, so long

<music>

when I first met you, there was nothing to hide

for I always, wanted you, by my side

but that was then, and the time is now

now it seems, those fears got the best of us somehow

so short, so long

when I first met you, I thought you knew I cared

enough to talk with, so that fears, could be shared

but that was then, and the time is now

now all that’s survived, are those fears, least for now

so short, so long
