"poetry is an echo asking a shadow to dance" Carl Sandburg
****** if our world was strong enough written to “I’m Forrest…Forrest Gump” from Forrest Gump
if our world was strong enough that it could handle anything we would have no worries and never need to plan a thing
but things do not happen, if others just don’t care keeping progress always down until they get their share
now we must put aside this averse and greed and all work for the greater good to answer all our needs
by caring more for others just like we all know we should then we could shed those worries and focus on the good
if we could come together like we never have before we may just find a reflection on the other side of the door
one that looks quite different and then again the same do we want to save our world or just spin off different blames?

this poem is dedicated to everyone effected by Hurricane Katrina with hope that we soon learn the true expense of global warming before it is too late

would you II written to “I’m Forrest…Forrest Gump” from Forrest Gump
would you keep on giving, if all someone else did was take would you make that decision, as if it was the last one you could make could you love another, more than they will ever know will love’s magnitude, be more than just a show
will you always be there, when the time has come will you ever leave, like the others all have done will you touch my soul, as carefully as you can will you understand, that to be perfect is not a man
would you like to see, when God first lights the sky would you like to be there, when our years are growing neigh would you now believe, that no matter where we are that we’re here and no longer wish on stars johnny holloway 14 may 2005

is written to “I’m Forrest…Forrest Gump” from Forrest Gump
is life just something that we always can ignore is life just something where we only want for more is life just something that we can take again in vain are our lives just then again the same
is our world just something we can treat without a care is our world just something that we dare do not share is our world just something that we never will respect can we get by with saying “what the heck”
is true love just something that is always taken away again is true love just something that when given, feels like a sin is true love just something that one day may show its face then our world can smile, since we share this place

will you will you take my hand and not keep it there in vain will you hold my soul even though it doesn’t hold your name
will you touch my heart as well as others all around will you understand that hatred is not sound
will you ever be more than I have ever known will you show to others a true person that has not shown
will you take my hand and give yours then in turn then give our lives to God asking for nothing in return johnny holloway 29 october 2005 © Copyright 2005. John W Holloway / RedStripe6.com. All rights reserved.

eeh haw
eeh haw said the donkeys
eeh haw we said too
and with an eeh haw it began
with a scary but awesome view
clicking down that road
brushing against the wall
too close to the edge
the apprehension of a fall
eeh haw was the fear
of more than the unknown
and eeh haw was the cry
of the hard worked donkeys moan
when we made it down
our eeh haw turned to glee
as we all got down alive
on our steep trip to the sea
but as we walked away
those eeh haw’s didn’t win
as they once again began their climb
only to turn around again
<dedicated to the overworked donkeys on santorini>

how right you are
how
right you are
I must believe
for to be wrong
could be to deceive
‘cause if you listen
you may find
that all that doubt
has left your mind
especially when
you learn to trust
from your heart
when you don’t feel you must
so thank you now
for all you shared
especially when
I would not have dared
believe how easy
it is to say
how right you were
and feel good that way

some ships
some ships you don’t feel moving
until you see them pull away
leaving you stranded on a deserted
dock
truly messing up your day
but accidents they do happen
but what’s truly sad is when
they fail to learn from mistakes
leaving others on those docks again
especially when everyone on the ship
does things that are unsurpassed
but they’re only as strong as their
weakest link
if some don’t get off their ass
because damage control is simple
if they just seek to improve
but if they don’t look beyond the ship
they may grossly miss the groove
so I may keep on coming back
but I’ll never forget those who did
not seem to care
when they left me stranded in some
unknown place

on the other side of Orion
on the other side of Orion a very long way from home the once famous pilot is now confused and all alone
when he left his land some years ago things seemed that there could be eventually peace on earth with a world in harmony
but that is not what happened for those that were supposed to lead failed those who had hoped for the best and quickly turned to greed
a greed that sucked the life out of every little thing but not at their expense mind you for each leader acted as if he were king
how much could they take from those who cared before they became the wiser? to really know those kings for what they were and that was no good, dirty liars
then after there was nothing left in the land they were charged to keep they began destroying others ‘til the whole world began to weep
and eventually there was nothing on a world that once did thrive for now all was barren and all that lived had died
so looking back in disbelief the pilot shook his head wondering if there could ever be life among the dead
but that would never happen because those kings made it so to where nothing would ever live again much less ever grow
then the pilot turned away and put his craft in gear and accelerated past what would be warp 10 to try to escape his fear
how man could be so stupid and look others in the eye only to know they were charging towards Armageddon and that every one would die

****** everything has a reason
everything has a reason it is just up to us to learn and move forward instead of just wanting to cuss what happened was tragic and won't go away but something else wonderful happened that day
for in all the destruction something else arose and that was all those heroes who upstaged all our foes some of them now are no longer here because they chose bravery while those terrorists chose fear
they thought they knew all it would take to wake up our world for terrors sake and woke the world up is just what they did but not for their cause now it's against them instead
because no one out there has that right to kill and destroy with no end in sight now the world will stand up and forever take heed to what has been done, to thwart future terrorist's evil deeds
for fiends like that will no longer be hid to escape the consequences for the terror they did because in this world of so many beliefs we must all stand united to get total relief
understanding that everyone has their own right to worship their God without needing to fight but to do this requires one special thing respect for each other no matter how strange it may seem
and for those that must still dance and cheer about the death and destruction that happened so near may everyone out there remember the day that they rejoiced death when they end up that way 17 September 2001 in memory of those whose lives are cut short and also those heroes who daily risk their lives to help others ******
smiles at sunrise
I wish that smiles at sunrise could be more than just a dream I wish that smiles at sunrise could become reality and really seen
on one hand we try to hold back and are afraid of letting go on the other we're just afraid this may leave us nothing more to show
why do things have to be so complex
and our thoughts so confused? is it that we've got to comfortable
or are we just afraid of being used?
a
decision of such magnitude is not an easy one to cross for if not in the right direction
a better future could be lost
the
future I have dreamed of
has always been at hand
it's just the time wasn't right to take that final stand
but when the time is right
if the turn I make isn't wrong
there will be smiles at sunrise that will last all day long

can’t you see i’m a dancer
can’t you see I’m a dancer and these things do take time but to shave an hour off my practice you think I wouldn’t try
alas, muscles, my friend, don’t stretch overnight or those injuries will abound and this dancing it takes precision and only through practice can that be found
but practice and long muscles don’t in themselves a dancer make because these bodies need some guidance if their talent’s to finally take
then once it does, it’s not over for guidance is still the clue to help that dancer understand why their numbers are but a few
for their bodies get a beaten one that’s very hard to take but this sacrifice is worth its weight in gold because to a dancer, it’s all for dancin’s sake
and dancing, it attracts an audience one that will usually come back for more to where they can really appreciate all that the local area has in store
so don’t rush me now or you could spoil the show a show that must go on whether it is here or somewhere else but if it’s somewhere else, it’s wrong

my weakness is my strength
my weakness is my strength so don’t push me around for if you think you can it could be your nightmare that you’ve found
for to do so should be a crime and it certainly is a sin to prey on those you think are weak just because you think you’ll win
so tend to your own now or eventually you may find that the delusion you had of power existed only in your mind

last week I met the devil
last week I met the devil and you never would imagine where this meeting occurred face to face yet there was nothing there to fear
he tried his best to freak me out to make me fear his stare but when I looked deep into his eyes there just was nothing there
so never fear that devil unless you fear yourself because your future is only controlled by you and not by someone else
